The official trailer for the capture of “Waitress” on Broadway has been released. Though the film debuted at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, Bleecker Street Films and Fathom Events have partnered to screen “Waitress” in movie theaters nationwide from Dec. 7-11. See the trailer here:

“Waitress” stars Sara Bareilles as Jenna Hunterson, a server at a diner with a special talent for making unique and delicious pies. When Jenna finds out she’s pregnant, her pie-baking abilities just might be the ticket she needs to escape an abusive marriage and start a new life.

With a Tony-nominated score by Bareilles, “Waitress” features a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro. The film version, which is a capture of the musical performed live on Broadway, was directed by Brett Sullivan. Nelson served as creative advisor.

The “Waitress” film features original cast members Eric Anderson, Christopher Fitzgerald, Drew Gehling and Dakin Matthews as well as Charity Angél Dawson, Caitlin Houlahan and Joe Tippett.

“Waitress” was produced on Broadway by Barry and Fran Weissler. The film is produced by Michael Roiff, the Weisslers, Bareilles, Nelson and Paul Morphos. Alecia Parker serves as an executive producer.
