Fran Weissler never had ambitions of producing theater, let alone on Broadway — until she met her now-husband of 55 years Barry Weissler. As their personal lore goes: Fran was a single mom filling in at the box office of a New Jersey theater where Barry’s troupe was performing; 18 months later they were married and a partnership was born. “When you fall in love with somebody and [producing] is what they do, when they want you to do it with them it’s a whole new world,” Fran told Broadway News.
