“Waitress, The Musical — Live on Broadway!” will debut at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival on June 12 at BMCC theater in Manhattan and, simultaneously, on an 18,000-square-foot digital screen overlooking Times Square. The midtown presentation is a collaboration between the Tribeca Film Festival, the Times Square Alliance and TSX Entertainment.

There will be 300 seats available at the corner of 47th Street and Seventh Avenue, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The screening is expected to begin at 7:30pm. Audiences will be able to watch the Broadway capture on the screen hovering above midtown and listen to the broadcast individually on their mobile devices via the TSX app.

The screening will begin with a special video introduction by the musical’s Tony Award-nominated composer-lyricist, Sara Bareilles, who also plays the lead in the filmed version of the Broadway musical.“Waitress” opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (now renamed the Lena Horne Theatre) in April 2016 and earned four Tony nominations, including one for Best Musical. On September 2, 2021, “Waitress” returned to Broadway, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. “Waitress, The Musical — Live on Broadway!” is a capture of that return mounting.

“Tribeca Festival and Broadway are both NYC institutions, and I’m proud to have ‘Waitress, The Musical — Live on Broadway!’ bring together these audiences for the first time,” said Bareilles. “This is a love letter to the vitality of the theater community and the great spirit of the Tribeca Film Festival, two essential constellations that make up this universe of a city.”

“Waitress, The Musical — Live on Broadway!” is being produced by Dear Hope Productions, National Artists Management Company and Night & Day Pictures.
