‘Pretty Woman’ to open at the Nederlander Theatre in August

“Pretty Woman: The Musical” will open at The Nederlander Theatre on Aug. 16, 2018, producer Paula Wagner announced Tuesday.

The musical begins performances on July 20, 2018. Ahead of the Broadway run, “Pretty Woman” will make its world premiere at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago for a five-week run starting March 13.

“War Paint,” the most recent show at the Nederlander Theatre, closed on Nov. 5.

“Pretty Woman: The Musical” features songs and lyrics from Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, a book by Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton, who wrote the screenplay for the film version. Jerry Mitchell is the director and choreographer.

Samantha Barks will play “Vivian,” with Steve Kazee as “Edward,” Orfeh as “Kit,” Eric Anderson as “Mr. Thompson,” Jason Danieley as “Philip Stuckey” and Kingsley Leggs as “James Morse.”

Alongside Wagner, the show is produced by Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions, Roy Furman, James L. Nederlander, Caiola Productions, Hunter Arnold, Stage Entertainment and The John Gore Organization.

The show’s scenic design is by David Rockwell, with costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Philip S. Rosenberg and sound design by John Shivers.
