Greg Kinnear will take over the role of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird” on Broadway this spring, the production confirmed Tuesday.

This is the Broadway debut for Kinnear, known for his film and television career, which includes “As Good As It Gets,” “Little Miss Sunshine” and “You’ve Got Mail.” He joins the production on April 21, taking over the role from Ed Harris.

Harris will play his last performance on April 19.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” opened at the Shubert Theatre on Dec. 13, 2018, with Jeff Daniels originally portraying Atticus. The play was adapted by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Bartlett Sher.

The production is planning a special performance Wednesday, in which the Broadway cast will perform in Madison Square Garden for 18,000 New York school children.
