The “Moulin Rouge!” musical will launch a North American tour in 2020, which includes a 10-week engagement in Chicago.

The tour will begin technical rehearsals and premiere in New Orleans at the Saenger Theatre in November 2020. After that, the musical will play a 10-week engagement at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago.

Additional stops on the tour and casting will be announced at a later date.

“After ten years in development, the fantastic response to ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ in New York is mind blowing,” producer Carmen Pavlovic said in the press release. “We’re keen to share the enthusiasm for ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ across the country. It’s thrilling that a second company will be going out to audiences across North America just one year after the Broadway opening.”

Directed by Alex Timbers, the musical features a book by John Logan, choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine. It opened at the Al Hirschfeld theater on Broadway on July 25, 2019.

The producers previously announced an Australian production to launch in 2021.
