Actors’ Equity urges producers to postpone auditions

Actors’ Equity has asked producers to “temporarily postpone” auditions due to updated guidance from the Center for Disease Control on coronavirus.

The union cites the CDC guidance which calls for organizers to postpone or cancel events of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks. The majority of producers have already agreed to postpone auditions on their own volition, according to Equity.

The Broadway League said it was also “discussing” the new CDC guidelines.

Equity’s call applies to required Equity Principal Auditions and Equity Chorus Calls.

Actors’ Equity had previously asked its members not to attend auditions if they were sick or had traveled to “high-risk” countries affected by coronavirus.
