“Kinky Boots” will return to New York this summer at the Off-Broadway theater Stage 42.

The Tony-Award winning musical returns to the city after a six-year Broadway run, which ended in April 2019. “Kinky Boots” will begin performances on July 26, with an opening night on August 25.

Casting has not yet been announced. The musical features songs by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. “Kinky Boots” is produced by Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig.

This is the latest Broadway production to make the move Off-Broadway. It follows in the steps of such shows as “Avenue Q,” “The Play That Goes Wrong” and “Rent.” For “Kinky Boots,” the Off-Broadway run follows North American and British touring productions, as well as a production on the West End and several around the world.
