Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford have announced their departure from “Sweeney Todd.” Groban and Ashford will play their final performance as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett, respectively, on Jan. 14, 2024. The production — which had previously been on sale through Jan. 14 only — will open ticket sales into the spring of 2024. Replacement casting will be announced.

Both Groban and Ashford received Tony Award nominations for their turns in the revival. Ashford won the Distinguished Performance Award from the Drama League for her take on Mrs. Lovett; the prize can only be won a single time in a performer’s career.
