The DreamWorks Theatricals/Music Theatre International Emerging Writers Program has announced four participants: Krista Knight, Joriah Kwamé, Veronica Mansour and Kate Thomas.

The first class of chosen writers will develop musical adaptations from DreamWorks Animation films intended for the Music Theatre International (MTI) catalog. MTI is a global leader in theatrical licensing. The participants will also receive access to training, master classes and industry professionals to advance their careers.

The program is presented by DreamWorks Theatricals and Music Theatre International (MTI), in partnership with NBCUniversal’s Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) team.

“Having reviewed the submissions of so many talented writers, we are thrilled to have identified these four artists to participate in the DreamWorks Theatricals/MTI Emerging Writers Program,” MTI CEO Drew Cohen said in a statement. “Our team were not only impressed with their creative work, but also moved by their reasons for wanting to participate in bringing their voices to the musical theater artform. The work that these artists create will in turn inspire a new, expanded generation of theater performers, theater writers and theatergoers.”
