A schedule is set for the 2024 Drama League Awards. The 90th annual ceremony will take place on May 17 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. Nominations for the awards, which honor Broadway and Off-Broadway productions alike, will be announced at the New York Library for the Performing Arts on April 22 at 10:00 a.m.

In order to be eligible for the 2024 awards, productions must have begun previews between April 24, 2023 and April 20, 2024.

Awards are given in six competitive categories: Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Play and Outstanding Direction of a Musical. Additionally, citations include the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing, Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater, Contribution to the Theater Award and the Gratitude Award.

The Drama League honors acting in just one category: the Distinguished Performance Award. Actors can only win this award once in their careers. The 2023 award went to Annaleigh Ashford for her turn as Mrs. Lovett in “Sweeney Todd,” while the 2022 honor was awarded to Sutton Foster for her performance as Marian Paroo in “The Music Man.”

Founded in 1916, the Drama League provides training, resources and mentorship to directors. Gabriel Stelian-Shanks and Bevin Ross currently serve as artistic director and executive director, respectively.
