Concord Music Publishing has announced that it’s signed songwriters Julia Mattison and Noel Carey. This global publishing deal takes effect immediately and includes the songwriters' entire catalogues.

Mattison and Carey co-wrote the Tony Award-nominated score for the Broadway musical “Death Becomes Her,” collaborating on both music and lyrics. The original Broadway cast album of “Death Becomes Her,” released by Concord Theatricals Recordings, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

“After having such an amazing time making our ‘Death Becomes Her’ cast album with Sean and the whole wonderful team at Concord, it felt like a natural fit to join forces and keep the good times rolling,” said Mattison in a statement. “We can’t wait to grow our catalogue with Concord Music Publishing and see where this partnership takes us.”

“Concord understands and continues to champion the importance of new musical theater, and it’s a thrill to join their roster of exciting talent — I hear Rodgers & Hammerstein have some really promising stuff,” Carey added.

Mattison and Carey previously collaborated on the musical comedy “Is Anyone Alive Out There?,” which premiered Off-Broadway at Minetta Lane Theatre in 2019. Together, they also penned a series of musical commercials for skincare brand Olay, and the Streamy Award-winning web series “Brooklyn Sound.” Mattison is currently writing the book for Disney Theatrical Group’s developmental stage adaptation of the film “Tangled.”

“We’re so excited to continue our hilarious and joyful collaboration with Julia and Noel,” said Concord’s chief theatricals executive Sean Patrick Flahaven in a statement. “Their smart and innovative approach and grasp of both the sweet and the absurd make them ideal songwriters for so many kinds of projects. I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
