“David Byrne’s American Utopia” will return to Broadway in September 2020, the show’s producers announced Sunday.

The show, which ends its engagement at the Hudson Theatre Sunday, will return to the Hudson Theatre from Sept. 18, 2020 through Jan. 17, 2021. A new opening date will be announced at a later date.

The current run opened at the Hudson Theatre on Oct. 20, 2019. It recouped its $4 million investment in mid-December, the producers said Sunday.

The show is produced by Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Patrick Catullo and Todomundo.

“It’s become obvious to us in the band, the crew and the producer team that audiences want, dare I say need? to see this show. They’re not ready to have it disappear just yet. We feel the same way, we love doing this show. So, it’s thrilling to us that we can announce that we’ll be back in September,” Bryne said in the press release.

In addition to the Broadway return, Spike Lee is directing a filmed version of “American Utopia,” which will be launched in 2020.
