Casting directors of ‘Liberation,’ ‘Ragtime,’ ‘Schmigadoon!’ and more nominated for 42nd Artios Awards

The annual awards honor the contribution of casting professionals in theater, television and film.

The Casting Society (CSA) has announced the nominations for the 42nd Artios Awards. The 42nd annual edition of the awards will honor achievements in casting for theater, television and film for projects that aired or debuted between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. The winners will be named during ceremonies at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the Edison Ballroom in New York City and One Moorgate Place in London, all taking place on Feb. 18, 2027.

Nominated in the category of Broadway: Comedy or Drama are Taylor Williams for the 2026 Tony Award-winning revival of “Death of a Salesman,” casting directors Bernard Telsey and Karyn Casl and associate casting director Charlie Hano for “Dog Day Afternoon” and casting director Jillian Cimini and associate casting director Neal Buckley for the 2026 Tony-winning Best Play “Liberation.” Casting director Daniel Swee was nominated three times in this category for his work on “Becky Shaw,” “Giant” and “Proof.”

The Broadway: Musical nominees include Telsey and Kristian Charbonier for 2026 Best Musical Tony winner “Schmigadoon!” Charbonier, Craig Burns and associate casting director Jimmy Larkin are also nominated for  “The Lost Boys.” Burns is also nominated as the sole casting director of the Tony-winning revival of “Ragtime.” Carrie Gardner and Stephen Kopel, with associate casting directors Buckley and Sujotta Pace, received a nomination for “The Rocky Horror Show.” Pace is also nominated alongside Victor Vazquez as casting directors of “Cats: The Jellicle Ball.”

Broadway titles were also recognized in the Theater Tours category. Casting director Patrick Goodwin was nominated for “The Notebook.” Xavier Rubiano and associate casting director Louis DiPaolo were nominated for “The Outsiders.” Claire Burke, Peter Van Dam and associate casting director Frankie Ramirez earned a nod for “The Phantom of the Opera.” Rounding out the category, Alaine Alldaffer was nominated for “Stereophonic” and Rachel Hoffman for “Suffs.”

Nominations for casting in the following additional theater categories were also announced: London Theatre, Los Angeles Theater, New York Theater: Comedy or Drama, New York Theater: Musical, Regional Theater and Special Theatrical Performance. 

The television and related categories are Television Series: Drama, Television Pilot and First Season: Comedy, Television Pilot and First Season: Drama, Films First Released for Television or Streaming, Reality Series: Competition, Reality Series: Structured and Unstructured, Animated Program for Television, International Television Series, Limited Series, Live Action Children and Family Program for Television, Commercials, Short Film and Short Form Series.

Members of the CSA vote on the Artios Awards nominees and winners. Honorees for noncompetitive special awards, which include the Hoyt Bowers Award for Excellence in Casting, Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement, Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award, Rosalie Joseph Humanitarian Award, Capelier-Shaw Award and Global Impact Award, will be announced at a later date.
