Broadway’s ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ to perform at World Cup fan event

The event is part of the 2026 World Cup Fan Village at Rockefeller Center.

“Buena Vista Social Club” will hold a free, live performance at Rockefeller Center this month. At 1:15 p.m. on July 16, the Tony Award-honored band of the Broadway musical will perform with members of the company as part of the offerings from NYNJ World Cup 26 & Telemundo Fan Village at Rockefeller Center. 

The performance by “Buena Vista Social Club” is presented in partnership with Telemundo as part of the Fan Village, which, in turn, is presented by the television network and the the FIFA World Cup 26 NYNJ Host Committee. The Fan Village activation includes exhibitions of World Cup history, live screenings of games and a playable soccer field on Rockefeller Center’s Rink. Telemundo’s Lourdes Stephen will host the July 16 event.

Broadway’s “Buena Vista Social Club” is a dramatized telling of the formation of the Cuban music supergroup of the same name, featuring a score of songs by the Buena Vista Social Club. After officially opening at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 19, 2025, the musical received five Tony Awards: Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, Best Sound Design of a Musical, best featured actress for Natalie Venetia Belcon and a Special Tony Award for its band.

“Buena Vista Social Club” is produced on Broadway by Orin Wolf, John Styles, Barbara Broccoli, Atlantic Theater Company, Luis Miranda, LaChanze and John Leguizamo with executive producer Allan Williams.
