Theater journalism veteran Ruthie Fierberg has been named executive editor of Broadway News, overseeing editorial operations for the Broadway industry news brand.

Fierberg’s appointment comes as Broadway News is set to expand its team of editors, reporters and contributors as it continues on its mission to present the facts on Broadway.

Based in New York, Fierberg has previously contributed reporting to Broadway News. She has served as a senior editor at Playbill and has written for and worked at publications including Backstage, Good Housekeeping, Parents and others.

A skilled interviewer, Fierberg is known for her reporting both behind the scenes as well as on camera on Broadway’s red carpets. As an in-demand moderator, Fierberg has led talkbacks and panels for many of Broadway’s major events and companies, and will continue that work in her new role with Broadway News.

Originally from Connecticut, Fierberg graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University where she served as theater editor of the Columbia Daily Spectator.

In addition to Fierberg’s appointment, Broadway News has named Andy Lefkowitz as a contributing editor. Lefkowitz recently served as interim editor of Broadway News and previously in editing roles at Broadway.com and TheaterMania. Caitlin Hornik, who has experience at the US Sun and other publications, has been named a reporter for Broadway News. Lefkowitz and Hornik report to Fierberg.
