Alexandra Billings, John Ellison Conlee and more cast in ‘The Nap’

Alexandra Billings, John Ellison Conlee and Johanna Day will star in the American premiere of “The Nap” this fall.

Alexandra Billings, John Ellison Conlee and Johanna Day will star in the American premiere of “The Nap” this fall.

The play, written by Richard Bean and directed by Daniel Sullivan, centers on “the world of snooker,” the British version of pool, and will also feature the current 2018 United State National Snooker Champion Ahmed Aly Elsayed.

The play, produced by Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove, will open at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Sept. 27, 2018, with previews beginning Sept. 5.

This play will mark the Broadway debut of Billings, who stars in the television show “Transparent.”

Other cast members include Heather Lind, Max Gordon Moore, Bhavesh Patel, Thomas Jay Ryan and Ben Schnetzer.

The play follows a young star of snooker, played by Schnetzer, as he arrives at a tournament and is warned of the consequences of match fixing, which brings in a crew of colorful characters include his ex-convict dad, played by Conlee, his mother, played by Day, his manager played by Moore and a gangster played by Billings.

“The Nap” will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by Lindsay Jones.
