Tony Award nominee and three-time Emmy Award-winning actor Uzo Aduba, and Tony and Emmy winner Darren Criss, are set to announce the nominations for the 79th Annual Tony Awards. Nominees will be announced in a ceremony at Sofitel New York on 44th Street; it will be livestreamed on the Tonys’ YouTube channel at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT on May 5.
Select categories will also be announced live on television during CBS Mornings at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.
Aduba has appeared in the 2011 revival of “Godspell,” and starred in the 2021 play “Clyde’s,” for which she was nominated for 2022’s Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play. On the small screen, she currently appears on the Netflix series “The Residence,” for which she recently earned her sixth Emmy nomination in the role of detective Cordelia Cupp.
Criss currently stars in the musical “Maybe Happy Ending,” for which he won his first Tony Award as Leading Actor in a Musical in 2024. As a co-producer on the show, he also received a Tony for Best Musical. Criss won an Emmy for his portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” He is perhaps best known for his role as Blaine Anderson on “Glee.”
