The 74th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast digitally this fall.

Final eligibility determinations will be made by the Tony Awards Administration Committee in the coming days, Tony Award Productions said Friday. The exact date of the ceremony and additional broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

The ceremony is traditionally broadcast on CBS. It was originally scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall on June 7, but those plans were scrapped after Broadway theaters closed on March 12. Broadway shows currently remain closed through at least Jan. 3.

The administration committee has already made determinations about 16 productions that opened in the 2019-2020 season, but now will have to consider how to honor productions that were unable to open or were unable to invite Tony nominators and voters before the closure of theaters.

As previously reported, this is the first time in history that the Tony Awards has been postponed, according to theater historians.

The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

“Though unprecedented events cut the Broadway season short, it was a year full of extraordinary work that deserves to be recognized,” Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League and Heather Hitchens, President & CEO of the American Theatre Wing, said in a press release. “We are thrilled not only to have found a way to properly celebrate our artists’ incredible achievements this season, but also to be able to uplift the entire theatre community and show the world what makes our Broadway family so special at this difficult time. The show must go on, no matter what – and it will.”
