‘The Band’s Visit’ wins Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater album

“The Band’s Visit” won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, the Recording Academy announced Sunday afternoon. The Tony Award-winning musical was in a category that included “Carousel,” “Once on This Island,” “My Fair Lady” and “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

“The Band’s Visit” won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, the Recording Academy announced Sunday afternoon.

The Tony Award-winning musical was in a category that included “Carousel,” “Once on This Island,” “My Fair Lady” and “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.” The recipients of the Grammy Award for “The Band’s Visit” album are principal vocalists Etai Benson, Adam Kantor, Katrina Lenk and Ari’el Stachel, producer Dean Sharenow and David Yazbek, who was both a producer of the album and wrote the score to the musical.

The cast album was produced under the Ghostlight Records label.

“The Band’s Visit” was the winner of 10 Tony Awards last year, including Best Musical. The musical, which opened on Broadway on Nov. 9, 2017, recently announced that is closing on April 7.
