Sharon Sachs will join the Broadway company of “Wicked” as Madame Morrible starting Feb. 14, producers announced Wednesday.

Sachs takes over the role from Alexandra Billings, who will play her final performance on Jan. 30. Judy Kaye, who played Madame Morrible on Broadway in 2016 and most recently appeared as Queen Elizabeth in “Diana,” will step into the role from Feb. 2 to Feb. 13.

Sachs has been playing Madame Morrible on “Wicked’s” national tour since 2019. She joins Brittney Johnson, who was previously announced to play Glinda, on Broadway starting Feb. 14.

Former Glinda, Amanda Jane Cooper, will cover the role from Feb. 2 to Feb. 13, with a standby covering the remaining performances.

“Wicked” reopened at the Gershwin Theatre on Sept. 14, 2021.
