Rachel Zegler to host ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ dance-along performance

Golden Globe and Olivier Award winner Rachel Zegler is set to host the next dance-along performance of Broadway’s “Buena Vista Social Club.” This special event, the fourth of its kind for the show, will take place during the 7 p.m. performance on Sept. 29.

During dance-along performances, audience members are invited to move to the music of “Buena Vista Social Club” from their seats. The first such performance, hosted by Tony Award winner and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, was held on March 26. Miranda is also a co-producer of “Buena Vista.”  Special Tony recipient John Leguizamo (and Miranda’s fellow co-producer on “Buena Vista”) emceed the next dance-along on May 14, followed by Academy Award winner and Tony nominee Lupita Nyong’o on Aug. 14.

“If you know me, you know how important this show is,” said Zegler in a post on Instagram. “I’m so excited to dance along with you on Sept. 29.”

Zegler first broke out when she was cast as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 film adaptation of “West Side Story.” She later made her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated 2024 revival “Romeo + Juliet,” followed by an Olivier-winning turn in the West End’s Jamie Lloyd-directed revival of “Evita.” Zegler is set to reprise the role of Eva Perón when “Evita” transfers to Broadway this March. She is also starring in Miranda’s upcoming film adaptation of Dave Malloy’s a cappella musical “Octet.”

Following the Cuban music supergroup of the same name through the recording of its self-titled album, “Buena Vista Social Club” officially opened at Broadway’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 19, 2025. It was nominated for 10 Tonys that season, winning four competitive awards and a Special Tony Award for the musicians who make up its band.
