“Buena Vista Social Club”’s dance-along performance is back by popular demand. On May 14, Special Tony Award honoree John Leguizamo will host a unique performance of the musical, where audience members will be invited to dance along with the music from their seats. Audience members are asked to dance responsibly and to take their seats between songs.

The production held its first dance-along night — the first of its kind on Broadway — on March 26. The performance was hosted by Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda. In a post on Instagram, Miranda called this “one of the most electric nights of theater I’ve had in a really long time.”

“I’m so excited to be hosting the next ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ dance-along on May 14,” Leguizamo added. “I can’t wait to see this fabulous show with y’all and dance to the amazing music with each and every one of you.”

Leguizamo is a Colombian-American actor of stage and screen. He made his Broadway debut in his own solo show “Freak” in 1998; the following year, he won a Primetime Emmy Award for a recorded version of the show. He has since written and starred in the Main Stem solo shows “Sexaholix,” “Ghetto Klown” and “Latin History for Morons.” Leguizamo has also appeared in the 2008 revival of “American Buffalo,” and is a co-producer on “Buena Vista.” He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role as Chi-Chi Rodriguez in the 1995 film “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar,” which was adapted into a musical that made its world premiere in 2023.

Based on the true story of the musicians who came together to form a supergroup of the same name, “Buena Vista Social Club” features Cuban music from a variety of Cuban artists and genres. David Yazbek provided creative consultation, Dean Sharenow music supervision, and Tony winner Marco Paguia orchestrations, arrangements and music direction. Additional arrangements are by Javier Diaz and David Oquendo, with music consultation by Juan de Marcos. Choreography is by Tony winners Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck.

“Buena Vista Social Club” is produced by Orin Wolf, John Styles, Barbara Broccoli, Atlantic Theater Company, Luis Miranda, LaChanze and John Leguizamo. Allan Williams is the show’s executive producer.
