Broadway producer Gillian Fu has announced the launch of her new namesake producing venture. Through a partnership with Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT), Gillian Fu Productions will connect Singapore-based financiers with developmental works in the commercial theater industry.

Gillian Fu Productions will aim to identify original musicals and plays in development and bring these opportunities to investors and producing partners from Singapore. The initiative will focus on productions with universal themes with a focus on Asian voices, the Asian diaspora and cross-cultural stories that have strong potential to resonate with markets in Asia and North America.

The initiative will allow Singaporean stakeholders to sign on to a production at the early-to-mid-development stages. By offering international insight, Gillian Fu Productions will give projects the runway they need to grow into global contenders.

“We’re not just financing shows — we’re shaping them from the start,” Fu said in a statement. “By involving global partners early in the process, we’re building a more dynamic model — one that brings new capital, new voices and new perspectives to the table.”

“This collaboration allows SRT to deepen our mission of championing globally resonant work while giving Asian artists and investors a direct stake in the future of international theater,” added SRT artistic director Gaurav Kripalani.

Fu’s producing credits include the 2024 Best Revival of a Musical Tony Award nominee “Cabaret” as well as “Cityscrape,” which played at Arts on Site in Manhattan’s East Village in 2023. Fu currently serves as associate producer of the Tony-winning Junkyard Dog Productions and as theater production specialist at the Commercial Theater Institute.

Founded in 1993, SRT aims “to inspire, engage and entertain audiences of all ages” via a variety of productions in the country’s capital city. Included under the SRT Group banner are the Little Company (which produces theater for children), the Young Company (an intensive theater training program for youth), the Inclusive Young Company (an acting program for youth and young adults who are Deaf, disabled or neurodivergent) and Centre for Creative Learning (which offers educational programming).
