New musical reimagining Rumplestiltskin in development

Industry reading presentations of the new musical "Golden" will be held in New York City on April 20 and 21. "Golden" is a contemporary retelling of the Brothers' Grimm fairy tale "Rumplestiltskin.

Industry reading presentations of the new musical “Golden” will be held in New York City on April 20 and 21. “Golden” is a contemporary retelling of the Brothers’ Grimm fairy tale “Rumplestiltskin.”

“Golden” will feature music and lyrics by John Hodges and Geordy Wells and a book by Francesca Peppiatt with Whit Cook. The presentation will be directed by Madsie Flynn with music direction from Robert Frost. Production stage management will be by Kara Kaufman.

Major Attaway, Morgan Lynee Dudley, Kevin Massey and Jon-Michael Reese will star in the reading. They will be joined by Tsilala Brock, Michelle Duffy, Will Gallacher, Megan Masako Haley, Marina Kondo, Eric Leviton, Zonya Love, Aaron Michael Ray, Dustin Sullivan and Kaila Wooten.

The musical tells the story of 19-year-old Alexa who is thrown into a magical world and embarks on a journey to reconcile her past with her future.

“Golden” is being produced by Mat Lipscomb with Nathan Gehan and Jamison Scott serving as executive producers. ShowTown Theatricals will be the general manager.
