‘How to Dance in Ohio’ cancels Jan. 3 matinée

The evening performance will go on as scheduled.

The Jan. 3 matinée performance of “How to Dance in Ohio” has been canceled due to illness in the company. The announcement was made on the production’s social channels. According to the posts, theatergoers with tickets for the 2 p.m. performance can contact their point of purchase regarding a ticket exchange or refund.

The Jan. 3, 7:30 p.m. performance of the new musical is set to proceed as scheduled.

The Sammi Cannold-directed musical began previews on Nov. 15, 2023, ahead of a Dec. 10 opening night at the Belasco Theatre.

Set in Columbus, Ohio, “How to Dance in Ohio” features a book and lyrics by Rebekah Greer Melocik and music by Jacob Yandura. Based on the documentary of the same name, the musical chronicles seven autistic young adults as they navigate preparations for their first formal dance.

“How to Dance in Ohio” is produced by P3 Productions (Ben Holtzman, Sammy Lopez and Fiona Howe Rudin) with Level Forward.
