Drama League announces 2020 winners

Danny Burstein was awarded the Drama League’s Distinguished Performance Award for his role in “Moulin Rouge!” Burstein was among the winners announced Thursday for the Drama League awards honoring the shortened 2019-2020 season on and Off-Broadway.

Danny Burstein was awarded the Drama League’s Distinguished Performance Award for his role in “Moulin Rouge!”

Burstein was among the winners announced Thursday for the Drama League awards honoring the shortened 2019-2020 season on and Off-Broadway. “Moulin Rouge!” also took home the award for Outstanding Production of a Musical, with “The Inheritance” winning  Outstanding Production of a Play.

“A Soldier’s Play” won the play revival category and “Little Shop of Horrors” won the musical revival category.

The Drama League also honored Marianne Elliott with the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing, late playwright Terrence McNally for his unique contribution to theatre and playwright and director James Lapine for distinguished achievement in musical theatre.
