GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics has announced the full list of nominees for the 2026 Dorian Theater Awards. The awards honor both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and individuals who contribute to them, celebrating them regardless of whether they include LGBTQ+ themes.
“From the radical reimagining of our world in ‘Prince F*ggot’ to the tender themes of self-discovery in ‘Schmigadoon!,’ it has been a wonderful season of queer storytelling on New York stages,” said Sam Eckmann, co-chair of GALECA’s theater wing, in a statement. “In addition to the new LGBTQ stories that we fell in love with, we were proud to see previous Dorian Theater Award winners ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball’ and ‘Titaníque’ find new, fabulous life on Broadway. Our stories are connecting with wider audiences and enduring on stages both large and small.”
“Schmigadoon!” leads Broadway with nine nominations, including Outstanding Broadway Musical and awards for performers Sara Chase, Max Clayton and Ana Gasteyer. Scribe Cinco Paul is nominated in the Dorian Awards’ new categories of Outstanding Original Score of a Broadway Production and Outstanding Book of a Broadway Production.
“The Lost Boys” is close behind with eight nominations, also including Outstanding Broadway Musical and one of the awards’ new categories, Outstanding Design of a Broadway Production. Shoshana Bean, Ali Louis Bourzgui and Benjamin Pajak are nominated for their performances, while director Michael Arden is nominated in both of the Dorians’ special categories: LGBTQ Theater Artist of the Season and LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer.
Also nominated for LGBTQ Theater Artist of the Season are playwright Shayok Misha Chowdhury, “The Rocky Horror Show” star Luke Evans, costume designer Qween Jean, “Titaníque” star and co-creator Constantine Rousouli and “Ragtime” star Brandon Uranowitz. In the LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer category, ballroom icon and “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” star Junior LaBeija, three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, director and actor Joe Mantello and director Sam Pinkleton are also nominated.
Because “Cats: The Jellicle Ball,” “Liberation” and “Titaníque” were all recognized during previous editions of the Dorian Theater Awards in their Off-Broadway iterations, only new elements of their Broadway transfers were considered eligible for consideration this year.
