With its 6,138th performance Thursday night, “Wicked” will become the sixth longest-running Broadway show in history.

“Wicked” opened at the Gershwin Theatre on Oct. 30, 2003. The musical will take the crown from “A Chorus Line,” which opened on July 25, 1975 at the Shubert Theatre and closed there on April 28, 1990.

The musical, produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone, has been performed in 15 countries around the world, as well as three sit-down productions in the U.S. and two North American tours.

Across these productions, it has amassed more than $4.5 billion in global sales and been seen by more than 55 million people.
