T. Oliver Reid to take over as Hermes in Broadway’s ‘Hadestown’

T. Oliver Reid is set to take over as Hermes in “Hadestown” on Broadway starting June 14. He succeeds André De Shields, who played his final performance on May 29. Reid, an original Broadway cast member, currently understudies the roles of Hermes, Hades, and members of the Workers Chorus.

T. Oliver Reid is set to take over as Hermes in “Hadestown” on Broadway starting June 14.

He succeeds André De Shields, who played his final performance on May 29.

Reid, an original Broadway cast member, currently understudies the roles of Hermes, Hades, and members of the Workers Chorus. Reid is also a co-founder and co-artistic director of Black Theatre Coalition.

Jewelle Blackman recently took over the role of Persephone after originating one of the three Fates.

The current cast also includes Reeve Carney, Tom Hewitt, Eva Noblezada, Soara-Joye Ross, Jessie Shelton, Kay Trinidad, Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Alex Puette, Trent Saunders, Grace Yoo, Sojourner Brown, Tara Jackson, Sayo Oni, Yael “YaYa” Reich and Davis Wayne.

“Hadestown” opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 17, 2019 and reopened on Sept. 2, 2021 after the theatrical shutdown.

The show is produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold and Tom Kirdahy.
