The Broadway transfer of “Stereophonic” has announced a six-week extension. David Adjmi’s Broadway-debut play, which transferred to the Main Stem following a fall 2023 run at Playwrights Horizons, will now play Broadway through Aug. 18. Daniel Aukin directs the play, which was originally slated to close on July 7.

Following previews that began on April 2, “Stereophonic” opened on April 19 at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre. The play, which features music by Will Butler, is led by an ensemble company that includes Will Brill, Andrew R. Butler, Juliana Canfield, Eli Gelb, Tom Pecinka, Sarah Pidgeon and Chris Stack.

Set in a mid-1970s recording studio, “Stereophonic” follows the challenges of a rock group as they record their sophomore album following their initial, unexpectedly successful first record.

“Stereophonic” is produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Sonia Friedman Productions, Linden Productions and Ashley Melone & Nick Mills.
