New York University Tisch Department of Drama, and Situation, an advertising and marketing firm specializing in theater and Broadway, have announced a new collaboration. Beginning with the spring 2024 semester, Tisch will offer students a lab course called “From Storytelling to Story Selling: Live Experience Marketing.”

The class will include lectures by executives at Situation as well as practical exercises focused on educating students in the history of live entertainment marketing, the current live events marketing economy and digital marketing. Students can expect to learn about social media marketing, data and analytics, communications, media planning and buying, technology and innovation, creative direction and production and more.

Many of the students enrolled in the course are pursuing their BFA in theater and will equip them with an understanding of the business side of the arts.

“Our students will undoubtedly benefit from Situation’s industry-leading expertise,” said Jessica Genick, program manager in career development and alumni relations at Tisch, in a statement.

Situation president Damian Bazadona added, “We believe that this collaboration will contribute to the future of live experience marketing by nurturing a new generation of creative and strategic thinkers.”
