Second Stage will present the New York premiere of a play by Lynn Nottage in its 2021 season.

Nottage’s play, which is currently untitled, will be directed by Kate Whoriskey and is scheduled to play the Hayes Theater on Broadway in fall 2021. This joins the previously announced Broadway production of “Take Me Out,” which had been rescheduled for spring 2021.

The play, which premiered at the Guthrie Theater in the summer of 2019 under the title of “Floyd’s,” centers on a truck stop sandwich shop employed by formerly incarcerated kitchen staff looking for a fresh start.

Nottage is poised to have several productions playing New York in 2021. She wrote the book for the Broadway musical “MJ,”and the libretto for the opera “Intimate Apparel,” which have both been rescheduled to open in spring 2021.

Whoriskey most recently directed “All the Natalie Portmans” at MCC and previously directed “Floyd’s” at the Guthrie as well as Nottage’s “Sweat” on Broadway.

Second Stage also announced the world premiere of Rajiv Joseph’s “Letters of Suresh,” directed by May Adrales, at its Off-Broadway Tony Kiser Theater in spring 2021. Second Stage has produced three of his previous plays: “Animals Out of Paper,” “All This Intimacy” and “Gruesome Playground Injuries.”
