Second Stage has pushed back the first Broadway preview of “Mother Play.” Previews of the Jessica Lange-starrer were originally scheduled to begin on April 2; performances will now start on April 3 at the Hayes Theater. The world premiere, written by Paula Vogel, will open on April 25 for a limited run through June 16.

The three-hander will also feature Jim Parsons and Celia Keenan-Bolger.

Directed by Tina Landau, “Mother Play” examines the family dynamics of matriarch Phyllis (Lange) and her children, Carl (Parsons) and Martha (Keenan-Bolger), as they unpack their past in 1960s Washington, D.C.

“Mother Play” is being produced by Second Stage under the leadership of president and artistic director Carole Rothman and interim executive director Lisa Lawer Post.
