The Tony Award-nominated musical “Schmigadoon!” has announced a North American tour, in addition to the acquisition of its licensing rights by Theatrical Rights Worldwide. The musical comedy’s tour will begin in September 2027, with a premiere at Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre. Afterward, it will tour the U.S. and Canada, with major engagements planned for Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and other cities. Further cities, dates and casting will be announced.

In addition, Theatrical Rights Worldwide has acquired the stage licensing rights to “Schmigadoon!” Licensing will initially be available in over 60 countries worldwide. In North America, licenses will be available to professional, regional, amateur, community and school productions. An adapted middle and high school edition, created with writer Cinco Paul, will also be available.

“Since we first set out to bring ‘Schmigadoon!’ to the stage, our goal has always been to create a production that could be enjoyed on Broadway and beyond,” said the producers in a joint statement. “Christopher Gattelli and his incredible team of designers have built this show with craft and care in a way that will allow communities across all 50 states to experience the exact same joy, scale and theatrical magic audiences are currently embracing on 41st Street. We’re also thrilled to place the show in the hands of theater groups nationwide through our licensing partnership with TRW, ensuring that ‘Schmigadoon!’ can continue bringing people together through the joy of live theater for decades to come.”

“Schmigadoon!” is based on the Apple TV series of the same name, which features a couple who wander into a parody of Golden Age musicals, only to learn that they’re trapped there until they can find true love. The current Broadway production opened on April 20 and will run through January 3. It was recently nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. Its 12 nominations make it the most-nominated musical of the season, tied with “The Lost Boys.”
