Ryoko Yonekura has withdrawn from her upcoming limited engagement as Roxie Hart in Broadway’s “Chicago.”

Yonekura had previously been announced to return to the musical for 16 performances in November. According to a press release, Yonekura has sustained a lower back injury that will prevent her from performing.

This would have been Yonekura’s fourth stint with the Broadway company of “Chicago” after having first appeared as Roxie Hart in the musical’s Japanese production in 2008.

A replacement for Yonekura will be announced shortly.

The current company of “Chicago” features Angelica Ross as Roxie Hart, Brandon Victor Dixon as Billy Flynn and Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly.

“Chicago” is produced on Broadway by Barry and Fran Weissler.
