In 1964, the popular British documentary “Seven Up!” gathered a group of 14 seven-year-olds and interviewed them about their dreams, fears and career aspirations. Filmmaker Paul Almond set out to interrogate this adage, attributed to Aristotle: “Give me the child at seven, and I will show you the man.” Sydney Beers, who grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, was not one of these children. But Beers is a shining manifestation of Aristotle and the documentary’s premise.
Beers put on her first play when she was seven. “I went to the principal … and told him I would be producing a show,” she recalled. Today, Beers is Roundabout Theatre Company’s executive producer, having celebrated 30 years with the organization in May 2025.
