A new musical based on “The Baby-sitters Club” series of novels will make its worldwide debut in 2027. Also titled “The Baby-sitters Club,” the musical will begin previews at Center Theatre Group’s Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles on May 6, 2027, ahead of a May 16 opening.
The world premiere of “The Baby-sitters Club” musical is being produced by TWTheatricals, which previously produced the stage adaptation of the novel “The Lightning Thief”; Rivka Marker for Linden Productions, a Tony Award-winning production company for “Stereophonic”; Naia Cucukov Richards and Lucy Kitada, executive producers of Netflix’s “Baby-sitters Club” streaming series; Peter Richards for Working Barn Productions, Center Theatre Group and MountainA, Academy Award-winning actor Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas’ production company. The mounting will be co-produced by Gregg Arst and Laura Kaufmann of Tanna Entertainment and Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon of LD Entertainment.
“‘The Baby-sitters Club’ was a formative part of my childhood, as was musical theater, and I feel so lucky to get to be part of bringing these two worlds together,” said Portman in a statement. “I can’t wait to share the joy these characters brought me as a kid with audiences this spring.”
