This season’s revival of “Macbeth” will invite at least 2,022 students to attend the play for free, producers said Thursday.

The initiative, supported by Omega, Baccarat, The Capri Foundation for the Advancement of Diversity in Fashion and American Express, is intended to increase access to the play. The production will partner with local organizations to distribute tickets to high school and college students who identify as Black, Indigenous or people of color, first generation college students and students with disabilities.

The free tickets will also be accompanied by community engagement programming, some of which will also be available to those unable to attend the play on Broadway.

Daniel Craig, who is starring as Macbeth, announced plans for the program in an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Wednesday.

“Macbeth” is directed by Sam Gold and stars Craig and Ruth Negga. The revival is produced by Barbara Broccoli, the Shubert Organization, Michael G. Wilson and Frederick Zollo. Patrick Daly is executive producer.
