Production company Lively McCabe Entertainment has gained access to BMG’s music publishing catalog, the fourth largest music publisher in the world. .

As part of the deal, Lively McCabe, helmed by Michael Barra, will be able to develop and produce projects from the BMG catalog across live stage, film, television and digital media. BMG represents artists including Aerosmith, Blondie, Public Enemy, Avril Lavigne, Richard Marx and Alice in Chains and represents more than 2.5 million songs and recordings.

The aim is to develop projects in which the music is “instrumental” to the story, rather than serving as a soundtrack.

Correction: A previous version of this article misstated that Lively McCabe had received the rights to the BMG Catalog, rather than access to it.
