“Funny Girl” star Lea Michele has tested positive for COVID-19. The production announced that she will be out of the production through May 21 and is set to return on May 23.

Standby Julie Benko will assume the role for all performances except May 19. Understudy Ephie Aardema will play Fanny that evening. Benko typically performs every Thursday evening.

Michele has missed several shows recently while her young son battled a health issue.

She has also made several public appearances recently, including as host of the 2023 Tony Awards nominees announcement alongside Myles Frost. Michele was onstage on May 13 when her castmate, Tovah Feldshuh, celebrated the 50th anniversary of her Broadway debut.

“Funny Girl” will play its final performance on Sept. 3. The revival is produced by Sonia Friedman, Scott Landis and David Babani.
