‘Last Of The Red Hot Mamas – The Sophie Tucker Story’ in development

The musical will hold two private readings in New York City on June 22.

Developmental readings of the new musical “Last Of The Red Hot Mamas – The Sophie Tucker Story” are set for June 22.

“Last Of The Red Hot Mamas” tells the story of entertainer Sophie Tucker, and icon of vaudeville, the Ziegfeld Follies and the Palace Theater. The musical will include many of the songs Tucker was known for performing, including "I'm the Last of the Red Hot Mamas," "Nobody Loves a Fat Girl (But Oh How a Fat Girl Can Love)" and "Some of These Days."

Newcomer Maeghin Mueller will play Sophie Tucker. The cast for the reading also includes Tony Award nominee Jeannette Bayardelle, Phillip Attmore, Alyse Alan Louis, Nic Rouleau, Mykal Kilgore,  Josh Lamon, Mark Price, Katie Thompson and Julie Kavanagh, Izaiah Harris, Graham Keen, Erin Moore and Christine Sienicki.

The presentations will be directed and choreographed by Shea Sullivan.

The musical will feature original Sophie Tucker songs with a book by Susan Ecker, Harrison David Rivers and Lloyd Ecker. Music supervision and arrangements will be by Sam Davis. The reading will feature music direction by Greg Jarrett. Alfredo Macias will provide stage management and Evan Bernardin Productions will provide general management.
