Lana Gordon rejoins Broadway’s ‘Chicago’ as Velma Kelly

"Chicago" alum Lana Gordon is set to return to the Broadway company during the Nov. 21 performance of the musical at the Ambassador Theatre. Gordon takes over the role of Velma Kelly from outgoing cast member Amra-Faye Wright, who rejoined to the company on Sept. 12.

“Chicago” alum Lana Gordon is set to return to the Broadway company during the Nov. 21 performance of the musical at the Ambassador Theatre.

Gordon takes over the role of Velma Kelly from outgoing cast member Amra-Faye Wright, who rejoined to the company on Sept. 12.

Aside from previous stints in “Chicago,” Gordon’s Broadway credits include “Hadestown,” “The Lion King” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” She most recently appeared in “Chicago” from February through September of 2022.

Gordon joins a principal cast that currently includes Charlotte d’Amboise as Roxie Hart, Ryan Silverman as Billy Flynn, Charity Angél Dawson as Matron “Mama” Morton, Isaac Mizrahi as Amos Hart and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

They are joined by David Bushman, Christine Cornish, Jennifer Dunne, Jessica Ernest, Jennifer Fouché, Jeff Gorti, Arian Keddell, Mary Claire King, Joseph London, Barrett Martin, Sharon Moore, Drew Nellessen, Celina Nightengale, Brian O’Brien, Denny Paschall, Jermaine R. Rembert, Rachel Schur, Michael Scirrotto and Brian Spitulnik.

Mizrahi, nearing the end of his three-week limited engagement, will be succeeded by “Chicago” alum Evan Harrington, who previously appeared as Amos Hart from June through November of 2022.

“Chicago” celebrated its 26th anniversary on Broadway on Nov. 14. The musical is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.
