Kapoor is the Emmy-winning producer of “The Little Mermaid Live!,” “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration” and “Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas.” He has also produced nine Academy Awards telecasts and 12 Grammy Awards shows.
“As former theater kids, stepping into the role of executive producers for the 79th Tony Awards is a tremendous honor,” said Hall, Sussman and Kapoor in a joint statement. “Our team is committed to bringing audiences closer to the creativity, innovation and heart that define Broadway.”
The Tony Awards will air live on CBS on both coasts. Paramount+ premium subscribers will also be able to stream the event live on Paramount+. Essential-tier subscribers will have access to the special the next day.
