Grammy Award winner joins ‘Here Lies Love’ as producer

(Credit: Courtesy of Boneau/Bryan-Brown) of the musical group the Black Eyed Peas has joined the producing team behind the new Broadway musical “Here Lies Love.” The six-time Grammy winner marks his Main Stem producing debut with the production.

“I’m excited to be a co-producer of the first musical featuring an all-Filipino cast on Broadway,” said in a statement. “‘Here Lies Love’ means so much to the Filipino community worldwide, and I am honored to support projects like this that highlight the many stories of Filipinos.”

“Here Lies Love” began previews at the Broadway Theatre on June 17 ahead of an official opening night of July 20. Directed by Alex Timbers, the production features music and lyrics by David Byrne and music by Fatboy Slim.

The musical captures the story of Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos, her rise to power and her subsequent fall to the People’s Power Revolution.

“Here Lies Love” is being produced on Broadway by Hal Luftig, Kevin Connor, Patrick Catullo, DiMenna for Plate Spinner Productions, Clint Ramos and Jose Antonio Vargas.
