Nominations have been revealed for the third annual Dorian Theater Awards. Presented by the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics (GALECA), the awards body recognizes excellence in stage productions both with and without an LGBTQ theme. As previously reported, winners of the 2025 Dorians, which encompass productions that played Broadway and Off-Broadway in the 2024-2005 season, will be named on June 2.

Leading the pack was “Death Becomes Her,” which received seven nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Broadway Musical. Rounding out the category were “Dead Outlaw,” “Just in Time,” “Maybe Happy Ending,” “Operation Mincemeat” and “Real Women Have Curves.”

Three productions tied with the second-highest number of nominations (six): “John Proctor Is the Villain” and “Purpose,” both of which received recognition in the Outstanding Broadway Play category (alongside “English,” “The Hills of California” and “The Picture of Dorian Gray”), as well as “Sunset Boulevard,” which was named in the Outstanding Broadway Revival category with “Floyd Collins,” “Gypsy” and “Pirates! The Penzance Musical.”

“Death Becomes Her” and “Purpose” were also named in the Outstanding LGBTQ Broadway category. Additional nominees include “Cult of Love,” “Redwood” and “Smash.”

“Cats: The Jellicle Ball” received five nods, the most of any Off-Broadway production.

With three nominations, Jinkx Monsoon was the most decorated individual across the slate of nominees. Monsoon was nominated in Outstanding Featured Performance in a Broadway Musical for her turn as Ruth in Roundabout Theatre Company’s reimagined “Pirates!” Monsoon was also cited in two categories unique to the Dorian Awards: LGBTQ Theater Artist of the Season and LGBTQ+ Theater Trailblazer, the latter of which acknowledges a lifelong commitment to creating art that inspires empathy, truth and equity.

Moreover, the Dorian Awards has several categories not seen in other awards bodies, including the Broadway Showstopper Award. The citation honors a standout production number or scene. This year’s nominees comprise the “Death Becomes Her” tuner “For the Gaze” (performed by Megan Hilty), Audra McDonald’s performance of “Rose’s Turn” in the revival of “Gypsy,” Sadie Sink and Amalia Yoo’s rendition of “Green Light” in “John Proctor Is the Villain,” the song “Chasing Fireflies” from “Maybe Happy Ending” (as performed by Darren Criss and Helen J Shen) and Tom Francis’ performance of the title song from the revival of “Sunset Boulevard.”
