“David Byrne’s American Utopia” will return to Broadway this fall at the St. James Theatre.

The show had previously announced plans to return to Hudson Theatre, where it had played a run in fall 2019. Performances for the run at the St. James will begin Sept. 17.

“American Utopia” will take over the St. James after the conclusion of “Springsteen on Broadway,” which ends its run Sept. 4. “Plaza Suite” had originally planned a rescheduled run at the Hudson Theatre this spring, but has not yet updated its timeline.

The show features Byrne and band members Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Mauro Refosco, Stéphane San Juan, Angie Swan and Bobby Wooten III. Annie-B Parson is the show’s choreographer and Alex Timbers serves as production supervisor.

“American Utopia” had previously planned to return to Broadway in fall 2020. Spike Lee directed a filmed version of the previous run.

The show is produced by Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Patrick Catullo and Todomundo.
