Daniel Craig tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday, leading to the cancellation of “Macbeth” performances through April 7.
The play had canceled its Friday evening performance 30 minutes before the show began, after discovering a COVID-19 case in the cast. The production later canceled its two Saturday shows due to Craig’s test result and then all performances through April 7 due to a “limited number” of COVID-19 cases detected in the company.
“Macbeth” started previews on Broadway on March 29 and is scheduled to open April 28, the last day for Tony eligibility. Craig stars as Macbeth opposite Ruth Negga as Lady Macbeth.
A number of Broadway performers have recently tested positive for COVID-19, as cases in New York City rise.
