Theater equipment rental house Broadway Media expands audiovisual division

Broadway Media has acquired the company BodyMics.

Broadway Media, a company that provides theatrical rentals and design resources, has acquired BodyMics, which specializes in wireless microphone rentals for school and community theater groups. This marks an expansion of the offerings included in Broadway Media’s Stage Gear audiovisual division.

Founded in 2013 by Quentin Sanford, Broadway Media provides media, software and hardware technologies to schools, performing arts centers and community theaters. The company began providing high-quality scenic projections to organizations that licensed theatrical properties. That led to providing license-approved scenery, software and then rental equipment to these smaller producing entities. Broadway Media has worked with clients such as Matt West, Tony Award winners Sergio Trujillo and Jerry Mitchell and has partnered with Theatrical Rights Worldwide and Broadway Licensing Global.

Rod Reilly founded BodyMics in 2007. Reilly innovated by offering unique pre-racked wireless microphone systems, which filled a need for effective and affordable microphone options among amateur theater groups. BroadwayMics’ packages include wireless receivers, power supply, antennas and professional-grade microphones with transmitters.

“Producing community and school theater involves inherent technical and budgetary challenges. Very few, if any, have budgets on par with Broadway producers,” noted Broadway Media founder and president Sanford in a statement. “BodyMics is the type of creative thinking that will especially benefit our customers. The acquisition of BodyMics is a significant milestone for Broadway Media. We’re thrilled to carry forward Rod’s legacy of innovation and service.”

“For nearly two decades, local theater producers staging Broadway's most technically demanding new musicals have found invaluable support in BodyMics Wireless Systems,” explained Reilly. “Integrating BodyMics into Stage Gear will enhance Broadway Media’s ability to support its nationwide theater community.”
