The Grammy Awards announced the full list of nominees for the 2023 Grammy Awards on Nov. 15. Six Broadway cast recordings are up for Best Musical Theater Album.

“Caroline, Or Change,” “Into The Woods,” “MJ The Musical,” “Mr. Saturday Night,” “Six: Live On Opening Night” and “A Strange Loop” have all been nominated for their cast recordings.

The nominees for each album include album producers, composers and lyricists. Principal vocalists have also been nominated for five of the six nominated albums, with the exception of “Six,” which does not include principal vocalists. Grammy rules dictate an album can submit up to four principal vocalists for consideration per nomination.

In addition to the Best Musical Theater Album nominees, a slew of Broadway alumni received nods in other categories.

Anaïs Mitchell, who wrote the book, music and lyrics for “Hadestown” is nominated for Best American Roots Song for “Bright Star.” Broadway personality Randy Rainbow is nominated in the Best Comedy Album category for “A Little Brains, A Little Talent.” Renée Fleming, who most recently appeared in the 2018 revival of “Carousel,” received a nomination in the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for “Voice Of Nature – The Anthropocene.”

Meanwhile, “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda received multiple nominations for his work on the Disney animated film “Encanto.” His song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” is up for Best Song Written For Visual Media, while the “Encanto” album is nominated in the Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media category. Miranda is also nominated in the category of Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for his work on the audiobook version of the novel “Aristotle And Dante Dive Into The Waters Of The World.”

Also nominated in the category alongside Miranda are producer, book writer and composer-lyricist Mel Brooks for his work on “All About Me!: My Remarkable Life In Show Business By Mel Brooks,” producer and music consultant Questlove for “Music Is History” and actor Viola Davis for the narration of her memoir “Finding Me.” With a win, Davis would become an EGOT.

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the supergroup ABBA, both Broadway vets for “Mamma Mia” and “Chess,” also received multiple Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

The 2023 Grammys are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. The awards show will broadcast live on CBS and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT.
